Not far from the towns of Locouarn, Quimperlé and Lorient, you will discover “Les Grands Sables” a beach which has retained its charm of yesteryear. This place of relaxation was the cradle of the seaside resort, where the first bathers appeared in the 1850s. It is a favourite with families with children.
Another popular beach nearby is « Plage de Bellangenet ». Being the largest and probably the busiest of the surrounding beaches, this place will delight, on certain days, lovers of beautiful waves.
The more adventurous amongst you may prefer « Kérou » beach which is a great surfing spot. Thanks to the gentle slope of the beach, the long trains of swell break and the waves form a tube shape. Nearly 300 surfers surf at Kérou beach throughout the year increasing to 600 in the summer.
Sailing enthusiasts will find their happiness at the nautical center of Pouldu which offers sailing courses during the summer season. You can also organise a paddle down the Laïta river in a canoe with your family or friends.
