Not far from Pont-Aven, Quimperlé and Concarneau is « Grands Sables » beach, a beach that has maintained its charm of yesteryear. This delightful beach was where the coastal resort came to life when sea bathing became popular in the 1850s. It is a favourite with families with children.
Another popular beach nearby is « Plage de Bellangenet ». This is the largest and no doubt the busiest beach in the area offering practical facilities such as a large car park, disabled access and lifeguards in July and August.
The more adventurous amongst you may prefer « Kérou » beach which is a great surfing spot. Thanks to the gentle slope of the beach, the long trains of swell break and the waves form a tube shape. Nearly 300 surfers surf at Kérou beach throughout the year increasing to 600 in the summer.
Sailing enthusiasts will find what they are looking for at Pouldu sailing centre which offers lessons throughout the year. You can also organise a paddle down the Laïta river in a canoe with your family or friends.
